HAVENS Horsefeed is the leading brand in equine nutrition and horsefeed in northern Europe. The company was founded in 1845 and ever since HAVENS has been continuously developing and improving its feed products. Today, we proudly present a complete and versatile range of pellets, mixes and mueslis. These products are available in more than 50 countries worldwide.
All HAVENS horsefeed-products are guaranteed 100% natural (100% vegetable) and they do not contain any ingredients of animal origin. The feed-products are composed of high-quality ingredients in fully balanced formulas and packed in paper bags - 20 or 25 kg (44 - 55 lb).

All our feeds are backed by HAVENS-research, combined with our over 150 years of experience. They are produced in accordance with international standards in one of Europe's most modern production facilities on the Meuse river in the South of the Netherlands.
Over 150 Years of Experience
In 1845 was the start of todays HAVENS-company, when Mr. Godfried Kaanen (ancestor of current directors Mr. Han en Mr. Joris Kaanen) bought the Vierlingsbeek watermill in the South-East of the Province of Noord-Brabant (The Netherlands).
Due to its ideal location close to the Peel marches, the watermill was never short of water and could work all-year-round. In those days this was a big advantage, compared to other water- or windmills. In 1923 Mr. Godfried Kaanen jr. (grandson of the founder of the company) and his half-brothers Mr. Harrie and Martin Havens started a cereal-trade on the Maasriver in Maashees, after the river was canalised. The company was named after their (step)father: "J.P. Havens Graanhandel NV".
Later in the 1930ies, a large state-of-the-art grain storage silo was built (see middle picture-->), to facilitate larger ships to moor with ingredients from overseas. It was destroyed during WWII in oktober 1944 and later it was re-built.
With the growing animal-feed business in the Netherlands, HAVENS started to grow constantly. In 1970 a second storage-silo was completed. And over the years, the Maashees production unit has been modernised continiously, to meet all quality demands.
In 1990 the company acquired another storage silo in the port of Venlo/Blerick, located on the Maasriver. Since 1995 HAVENS Venlo not only handles feed commodities and cereals, but also fertilisers.

Composing feed is our expertise. While doing this, we are striving for the highest possible quality. HAVENS Horsefeed is HACCP and GMP+ certified. All incoming ingredients, the complete production process and the delivery of products are subject to strict rules to ensure safe feed of a qualitative high standard according to HACCP and GMP+. The products in our horsefeed range are regularly renewed. Through intensive contacts with riders/horse owners and our own scientific research, we are able to optimize our feed concepts continuously to meet actual market needs.
All the mueslis, mixes or pellets in our assortment have their own nutritional requirements regarding starch, fibers, carbohydrates and sugar, essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, minerals, trace elements and other nutrients. These depend on the utility (sport, recreation, breeding), age, level of effort, etc. A special composition is made for each feed, based on the requirements. The most important ingredients are not only cereals such as black and white oats, corn, barley, wheat, spelt wheat, but also wheat bran, alfalfa, linseed and linseed oil. Most of the cereals are supplied by ship and come from France and Germany .
The high quality of the raw materials, the large diversity of the ingredients, the innovative production facilities and the consistent recipes make a bag of HAVENS Horsefeed really stand out from other brands. Our feed is extensively tested on a regular basis for various (FEI) championships and competitions.
Golden Results
The high quality of HAVENS feed has proven itself in practice. HAVENS Horsefeed was the feed supplier of the three gold-winning jumping horses (Egano, Ratina Z and Top Gun) at the Olympic Games in Barcelona 1992. In 2000, Jeroen Dubbeldam won individual gold at the Olympic Games in Sydney and he furthermore won double gold at WEG 2014 and also double gold at the European Championships at Aachen 2015. HAVENS was yet again the feed supplier of the “golden” jumping horses during the WEG 1996. HAVENS clients have also won numerous prizes and medals at various other championships and competitions.
HAVENS is the official supplier of some of the world's most prestigious equestrian events: the WORLD EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL CHIO Aachen (Germany) This is Europe's largest equestrian tournament for jumping, dressage and driving where also the yearly HAVENS Grand-Prix Dressage-prize takes place.
During the WEG 2006 and European Championships 2015 (both in Aachen), HAVENS was announced official supplier of all participating horses. Again with golden results: the Dutch showjumping team won gold in 2006. And Jeroen Dubbeldam made history by winning 2 Gold Medals in 2015 with his horse Zenith!
